Red Sheep of Scotland

Ok, so sheep don’t officially have paws, but hooves are pretty darn close. And these painted sheep are just too cool to pass up because of a little technicality.

The picture above was pulled from the BBC website showing red sheep alongside a freeway in Bathgate, Scotland.

Traditionally shepherds and farmers in Scotland have used dyes and paint to mark their sheep so they were easier to find, and also to tell who’s who, but this was more of a stunt than standard protocol.

It was said that the farmer wanted to “spice things up” a bit and entertain passersby with something a little different than what they were used to seeing.

The red sheep are now quite an attraction, and the farmer who painted them is considering using other lively colors such as pink to further excite motorists and curious onlookers.
